CANCELS
ROUNDHOUSE RAIL DAYS
SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3RD & 4TH, 2009
Citing major sewer construction to be underway by September 1, 2009, and, concerns for the public safety by that construction, the Berkeley County Roundhouse Authority voted unanimously Wednesday evening 26th of August to cancel 2009 Roundhouse Rail Days.
Clarence “CEM” Martin III, Chairman, said, “We always look forward to Rail Days and this is a major disappointment to the BCRA board, but, as always, the public safety must be uppermost in our minds. We were especially happy to have moved Rail Days to a new and cooler date in October. Now we find ourselves in the midst of a major construction project.”
Rosetta Chiofalo, Roundhouse Administrator, assured the board that Rail Days should be back next year in October and that the Roundhouse will participate in National Train Day in early May 2010.
Rail Days annually attracts a large family crowd with live music, model train vendors, Civil War reenactors, lots of food, train rides and vendors of all kinds.
